It doesn’t seem like just yesterday, but it certainly doesn’t seem like it was a year ago when I decided to take a picture of myself every day. It was something I wanted to stick to, so I didn’t make the rules very strict. I decided it was even okay if I missed a day. I never did miss a day, but there were a few close calls. Even after 361 days, I almost forgot to take my picture last Wednesday. 1
I started the project because I thought it would be fun and I was hoping it would make me more comfortable seeing images of myself. It worked! Though, the truth is that I think I got all the benefit out of it within the first month, which leaves me with nothing profound to say now. I will say, though, that the cool thing about doing this for a full year is that there are finally so many pictures of you out there that you stop worrying about each one of them looking good. When bloggers started posting pictures of themselves with no makeup, I at first thought, “I could never do that,” and then I realized I’d already done it several times over. It’s not so scary being seen at your worst when you’ve also been seen at your best. There’s no completely removing vanity from the picture 2 and that’s okay with me.
As October approached, I debated whether I should end this project or not. For a while, I felt like I really couldn’t do it. Something would be lost if there was not a picture of me from every day! But, then, a few weeks ago, I just knew I needed to stop now or I’d never be able to. Sometimes clearly defined endings just feel right. I still like the idea of capturing the everday-ness of life, but it’s time to get more creative.
I put together this little video of all 365 pictures.3

This is such a great idea! I’m about to go watch your video. I’m terrible at having photos taken, I really can’t take a good picture, but I like the idea of doing this. Well done for completing it!
Oh, also, LOVE you glasses!
I can’t believe that I’ve been reading your blog for a year. I remember when you started that project!
Great video. It does show the everyday aspect of life; I think I even spotted a Christmas tree in the background of one picture. Or maybe it was just some lights. Anyway, well done on keeping it up for a year.
Oh my, it has been a year already? Cool video! You have pretty eyes :)
Congrats on reaching your goal! I’d love to do something like this but I’m not sure I would be able to stick to it.
That is really super cool. I think I may try it myself. Was it hard to do it everyday? Did you try to do it at a particular set time?
I like the concept a lot. Thanks for sharing. Also, you have absurdly pretty eyes. :)
I joined DailyBooth with the intent to take a picture of myself every day, but I’ve missed so many days. I’ll skip a week without even realizing it, but I still take the pictures when I remember.
Congrats Ashley. And for the record, you’re really pretty. =)
VERY cool. I loved the video!! It was cool seeing your hair go from straight to curly to straight to pulled back because your face almost always looked the same.
Fun project, though. I might have to do this!
Super cute! What a fun project! I may have to consider doing it. If I do, I’m giving all credit to you. :)
awesome! =)
You’re like Jim Halpert with that one expression :)
Not sure why you’d be worried — 365 days of adorableness.
love the video! so fun to watch. congrats on making it a year! I don’t know if I could do it. there are definitely days where I DO NOT want to take a photo of myself, especially one for the world to see! you look great in all of them, I think. and I love how your hair keeps changing– straight, curly, up, down– but the glasses (almost always) and the expression (again, almost always) remain the same! :)
So awesome! The hair is always fabulous, but I would expect nothing less.
Oooh congrats on finishing! 365 days is HARD, I tried it myself (tho not just pics of me) and couldn’t finish.
Congrats on 365 days. I wish I could do something like that. I can’t wait to see what you have planned next.
This was a fun project. Good for you for completing it and that was a fun video!
Being as self-conscious as I am, at the moment I can say, this is something I don’t think I could ever be able to do. But applause to you!
That’s seriously one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Awesome job.
I’ve thought about doing the 365 project, but I don’t think I’d finish. Maybe I’ll try soon, though.
Loved your video of all the pictures.
I always enjoyed your “picture a day” idea…maybe now you can take a picture of other things every day, if you want. “How Ashley sees the world around her” pictures.
Aww, you’re so cute!
Ever since I saw your “picture a day,” I’ve wanted to do it myself. But felt like I’d totally be ripping of your awesome idea and simply couldn’t. Nicely done though.
What a fun project! You’re adorable!
Wow I can’t believe you didn’t miss a day!
This reminds me of the man who walked and grew his hair/beard for 1 year – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ky6vgQfU24&feature=fvw
I thought that I posted this already, but mad props on Sondre Lerche incorporation. Kind of miss his singing in this track, though. :)
AND of course, round of applause for pulling this project off. Admirable to think of the dedication but also you get a way cool end result.
So I’m fairly new to your blog, I’ve stumbled upon it a few times. This is AWESOME. So so cool. I love it!!
I’m thoroughly impressed that your hair always looks good.
Also, when you don’t stare too hard, you sortof look like Jenna Fisher!
So…from these photos, you resemble PAM from The Office sooo much! Especially with the curly hair. I loved it!
I kinda want to do this. So I may.
yay! I always forget to take mine :/
More curly hair days from you, please :)
This is really cool! I’ve actually thought of doing this before.. or with a baby someday. What if you had a picture a day for like 5 years? It’d be insane but you could see aging step-by-step. Weird!
