1. I had yesterday off from the library and it made all the difference in the world. This week has been, while not exactly soul crushing, still pretty rough. I was busy from the time I woke up until the time I went to sleep every night; that doesn’t leave a lot of time for being a person. So yesterday, after working 3 hours in the morning at Job #2, I answered some necessary emails, then went grocery shopping and spent the afternoon doing nothing. Well, I did catch up on my TV, so that’s something at least.
2. I love the new David Gray album. Here’s the thing, I never like any music the first several times I hear it. I only like what is familiar, but with David Gray, I’m of course going to listen until it is familiar and if it’s familiar, then I’ll like it, so there was really no chance of me not liking it. Whether it’s in any sense objectively good, I have no idea, but that’s always how I feel about music. What matters is that it’s speaking to me. And it was so fun to find out that so many of you are at least casual David Gray fans! I love you a little more than I did before.
3. I have Candy Corn. A big bag of it.
4. Lisa is coming over tonight and we’re going to eat at that fancy establishment known to the locals as Applebee’s.
5. I have a new story in my head and I can’t quite figure out how to tell it yet, but I like the characters and I’m having a lot of fun piecing together scenes in my head. Oh, the drama.
6. I really love the new show Community.
Hope you’re well. Have yourself a lovely weekend if you can.

1) Glad you had a day off and got to some necessary things (including watching TV)
2) There were a lot of casual David Gray fans in your comments! I noticed that too. I actually learned that he did that Babylon song, which I didn’t know before.
3) I LOVE candy corn. There’s this joke Lewis Black does about how nobody likes candy corn. I just shake my head.
4) I love Applebees commercials because John Corbett (Aidan from Sex and the City) does the voiceovers. The sampler platter is delish.
5) Awesome! Good luck on your story.
6) I haven’t watched this yet, but my BF watched both episodes and loves it.
Days off are nice. Working from sunset to sundown can be very draining. It is nice to just sit around and be you.
I’ve watched both episodes of the Community and find it hilarious. I had doubts that I would like it because I love the Office and nothing quite compares to Steve Carell. But I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a regular watch now.
I, too, love Community. It’s hilarious. I don’t often like Chevy Chase in anything, but this show is pretty darn good.
Hmmm, having random weekdays off is just delightful isn’t it! Enjoy your weekend!
I don’t know how you can cope without a proper day off. I have been looking forward to my weekend and two full days off all week!!!
ooooh. I just downloaded the first ep of community! I’ve been hearing good things about it-excited to watch it! Have a good weekend too!
Enjoy your much needed weekend!
Happy things rock!! Hope the rest of your weekend is amazing.
PS–Still totally going to look up David Gray on iTunes…I was thinking this earlier, even before I read your post.
Always, always take time for yourself.
Having a list of “happy” at all is certainly a good thing, as are days off!!
I love afternoons with no specific plans.
