I’m not very good at lazy days. I mean, I’m great at being lazy by procrastinating–world class, actually–but I’m not good at enjoying a good lazy day. I always start out with expectations that are too high, so I end up disappointed when I get distracted writing blog posts or watching YouTube videos and end up getting nothing done.
This weekend, though, I have no such expectations. My weekend is Friday and Saturday, so I’m already off to a good start. I got up late on Friday. Then I had my coffee and read blogs–a tradition I missed most of the summer. I read about a lot of bad days and money problems. Yeah, me too.
I have a lot of trouble ditching the guilt and dread about not working on all the things I need to do, but with the crazy schedule I’m running, I think mental health days have become all the more important. I’m going to try to protect my weekends (or at least one day) from all the craziness. I’m not going to make it through six seasons of The West Wing any other way!
I hear my futon calling.

Mental health days are DEFINITELY important. Enjoy it!
I’m jealous. I’m spending most of MY weekend in the office doing overtime. :(
Amen! I cherish my weekends off because I only get them twice a month. Yesterday I started getting sick, which sucks, but at least it gives me an excuse to be completely lazy.
Seriously enjoy your weekends! I love mental health breaks.
Sometimes you just gotta sit around and do NOTHING to remain sane in this crazy, overwhelming, intense world. Like right now…I have a cup of coffee in my hand, and I’m sitting here reading blogs as well. Sometimes it’s just nice to escape your own life and dive into another’s life. I’m all about escapism sometimes.
Mental health days are the best and they are soo needed! I admit, I have it good. I get off work at 1pm on Fridays so my weekend starts pretty early. And while I do work on homework on Saturdays, I also sleep in and laze around while attempting to work on homework. And since I work with two-year-olds five days a week, being at home in silence is really, really nice.
I’m actually very good at doing nothing. In fact, its one of the things I’m best at.
Keep going on The West Wing! It gets better and better as it goes along (I just started season 5, maybe you can catch up with me, haha).
I hope you had a great lazy weekend. I firmly believe in mental health days. Sometimes there are just days that I do nothing but read, drink wine, watch chick flicks. and whatever the else I want to do. They do wonders for the soul.
I find it difficult to enjoy my lazy weekends because I always feel like there is something I have to do. Lately, my weekends have been spent cooking, cleaning, and/or doing school work. It’s nice to just sit down every once in a while, though.
I’m glad you had a lazy weekend to yourself. I hope that since I’m done with work for today, I can have a lazy rest of the weekend. Because, like you, I have a tough time being lazy when I don’t have anything to do.
I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend!
