Happy Things

by Ashley on August 18, 2009

  • My name is in print.  The book review I coauthored with one of my professors last Summer was finally published.  It’s in the journal most important to the specific kind of theology I study.  I don’t actually own a copy, but I should probably get one.  Journals are expensive, you know.
  • David Gray is finally releasing a new album.  It’s been since September 2005.  I’m so excited. He’s my musical bff, after all.  The video for the first single, “Fugitive,” was released yesterday.  Just watching him sing makes me happy.  It’s something to do with the head bobbing.  This post wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the ultimate happy song.
  • At the moment I write this, I’m watching The Big Bang Theory.  Such an awesome show.  Speaking of, I’ve been overwhelmed with awesome shows lately.  I started watching Weeds and Dexter.  I’m considering watching Lost and Heroes.  And I’m still working my way through The West Wing.  I don’t know, maybe I should take a semester off from school just to stay up on pop culture.
  • I’ve been writing a lot in my journal.  I’m nearing the end of the red notebook and I’m so eager to start the new black notebook that I’m trying to hurry up and get there.  Then when I get there, it will seem unfamiliar and empty, and I will miss the red notebook.  This might have happened to me before.
  • Iced coffee.
  • School starts in two weeks and though I’ve been dreading the start of school and I’m still feeling like I could use another month or three of Summer, a part of me is looking forward to it.  I even bought my books.
  • The Fall is my favorite time of year.  I prefer it in a place like Western Washington, but it’s okay even in California.  Speaking of California, I’ve been here for three years and it’s just such a relief that after all of that time, I’m still alive and not living in a box on the street.
  • I leave for Washington tomorrow.  I’m so excited just to have a vacation.  I’m also looking forward to seeing my family, eating good food, and sleeping in a comfortable bed.

You should definitely buy the journal. :) Maybe seeing you name in print every day will be a big motivation?

Oh and YAY for vacations! :)

Congrats on the publication!

Fall is the best time of year, in my opinion. The weather is usually so close to perfect.

Have fun on your vacation! It’ll be a nice break before school starts.

Congrats on the publication!! That’s a coincidence — a lit review that I coauthored with MY advisor is being published next month!

I feel like summer is coming to a close – our classes start next week – but I’m taking my summer vacation during the first week of classes, finally! (5th years don’t really do classes though. That’s right, 5TH YEAR!)

Dexter! One of my favorites. You’ll have to let me know what you think!

Yeah!!! Congrats on getting published!! That is always so exciting!

Big Bang Theory Rocks!!! Heros is okay. It starts to get weirder and odder as the seasons go on. I’ve always wanted to see Lost though.

I just started back hand journalling and I am really enjoying it. I love getting to new journals. It is exciting to start filling up the pages.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. 1)my birthday is getting closer 2)the leaves change. That is the biggest thing I miss now that I live in the south.

Have fun on vacation!!!

Oh, David Gray, how I also love him. I’m torn for my favorite song: “Babylon” or “This Years Love”. Both are equally as amazing for me. I’m off to check out the new video now.

David Gray makes me supremely happy. I didn’t know he had a new album coming out and now I am incredibly pleased. Seriously, this made my day.

Love love love Big Bang Theory!! I have a bit of a crush on Leonard.

Congrats on your name in print. That just has to feel amazing.

And the fall is easily the best season of the year; easily.

Lost and Heroes are great, and I LOVE The Big Bang Theory.

Congratulations on getting your name in print! That’s so exciting! It must feel so good, I can’t even imagine!!!

Three words for you: LIGHT AND SWEET.

Heroes AND Lost are both available online on Netflix right now! I’m almost done w/ season one of Lost. I never had any interest to watch it, but it’s really pretty good. And Heroes: I’ve been an avid viewer. Last season wasn’t AS good because of the writers [and because the other seasons were so freaking amazing], but I’m hoping things are going to heat up. Enjoy!

Wow- that’s pretty impressive about the book review, and quite cool as well. That’s a really nice thing to have on your CV (both literal and metaphoric) and will definitely give you a leg up on other people. Way to go!

I thought you’d get a kick out of this, but I was flipping through radio stations and I heard David Gray AND James Taylor (on different radio stations). I thought you’d like that and get a kick out of it.

Have a great time back home!

Well done on getting published; that’s pretty amazing. ‘Lost’ is definitely worth getting into, as long as you’re patient with it, because it’s long and complicated and intentionally confusing. But worth it, I think.

Have a wonderful vacation Ashley! Enjoy the time with your family. Fall will be here so quickly but I’m not ready to let summer go just yet. I am going to try to extend it atleast through mid-September!

This blog reminds me – I saw your tweet yesterday about the David Gray song, so exciting… I downloaded the single already. Love it. Can’t wait for the CD!

Have fun on vacation…

Congrats on being published! Funny how we can blog all we want but when someone else publishes our work it feels “real.”

I love the Fall too – I am not a huge fan of August so I’m excited to start seeing cooler temperatures and changing leaves.

congratulations on having your name in print! and you should get a copy, even if it is expensive! It’d be nice if you could get a free copy though since you are in it! :)

I also love iced coffee. from Starbucks. specifically, an iced vanilla latte or a iced coffee with milk (sweetened, please). BUT, yesterday I switched it up and got the orange mango banana vivanno smoothie. now those make me happy!

I wish summer was a little longer. I don’t know why, since I am not still in school, and the seasons all mean the same thing to me now: work. but still, I wish it was not almost the end of August soon. can’t we go back to May?

Congrats on getting to see your name in print! That’s very exciting!

I’ve been watching a lot of Gilmore Girls lately, but I’m dying for the new season of Big Bang Theory to start. It’s a fantastic show!

Iced coffee. Yum. I made myself a caramel macchiatto. Well I attempted it at least. Turned out rather tasty in my opinion.

Fall is a wonderful time of year. The air starts to cool down, mornings become crisp, and then there is the changing of the leaves. Fall is a time for a drive up in the mountains according to Boyfriend. I’m already back in school – ugh and yay at the same time.
