There’s one crush I’m not likely to ever get over. I don’t know what it is about Jake Ryan. Oh wait, I guess it’s that he’s adorable and timeless and he chooses the awkward, red-haired sophomore over the hot, blond senior. She’s feeling invisible and he shows up in his red sports car, which might as well have been a white horse. It’s a story designed to give girls unreasonably high expectations, but if the guys get their manic pixie dream girls, then we should get Jake Ryan.
John Hughes’ classics came out when I was still really young, but because I had older siblings, they were a major part of my growing up. I’m just happy that I didn’t have to grow up in a world without Jake Ryan’s bored expressions and sweater vests. So, thanks John Hughes, for all that you created.

Jake Ryan is so adorable.
Jake Ryan has always been up there as one of my major crushes, too. I don’t know what the world would be like without Sixteen Candles.
He was hot while still maintaining attainability.
I loved that movie!! John Hughe’s movies were amazing. I loved them all.
Jake Ryan is quite the dreamboat. I also love Bender from The Breakfast Club.
RIP John Hughes.
Is it bad that I have no idea what movie you are talking about? I can assume, but I’ve never seen it, clearly.
And like the above, I loved Bender. Mmmm.
