I got carried away scanning pictures the other night and this is the result. This feels a little like forcing you to watch the slides from my vacation, but I’m going to do it anyway. I think we’re all good enough friends now that you have to pretend to enjoy it.
Life started off simply enough.
Me and my Cabbage Patch Kid. That's a Record/8-Track player behind me.
Me with a mullet. Yup.
Me with a fanny pack. Yup. Yup.
My mom made me this poodle skirt for my 5th grade school play.
Sixth grade school picture. The only decent school picture I ever took.
Me at Disneyland looking like a dude. I got tired of growing my bangs out and decided to cut my hair to match my bangs. Big mistake.
There's awkward and then there's my school picture from Freshman year of high school. It hurts. I'd had those braces for only a few weeks.
In Alaska. Sophomore year.
Me sitting on Santa's lap. Lisa is sitting on the other side.
Getting ready for Prom.
Senior picture.
Hours before running my first race (Sound 2 Narrows). Sophomore year of college.
Junior year of college. I used to wear colored contacts. Check out the collection of Baby-sitter's Club books behind me.
First year of grad school. In my first apartment.
Second year of grad school. Chopped all my hair off.
Christmas 2007. This is the picture I used on my blog when I first started.
Monday.

I especially loved the monkey bar picture. Brings back great memories :) Thanks for sharing these!
That’s a really cool progression and I like the idea for a post. I may try this sometime in the future. :) Thanks for sharing!
I love looking back through old pictures. It’s fun to be reminded of who you used to be (and the clothes you used to wear). :)
I enjoyed it =P
You are so freakin adorable =)
It’s wonderful to see an unfortunately mulleted child turn into a lovely lady.
I love the mullet picture. I think it might be my all-time favorite Ashley pic. And thanks for not posting a picture of me wearing pigtails and sitting on Santa’s lap. I also think I was wearing my Performance Fleece. Wow.
Cabbage Patch Dolls, poodle skirts, mullet cuts, FANNY PACKS, Babysitter club books. *sigh* those were the good old days…..
Although I didn’t have a mullet, I definitely rocked the fanny pack and the bad hair. I’m glad I was awkward though….it makes me appreciate how “naive” and “innocent” I was back then. These are fantastic pictures!
Ha ha I had a pink poodle skirt… for Halloween! Lol. Oh and the getting ready for prom pic… I totally see a bit of Sandra Bullock there!
And you look just about the same the whole time! Ha.
Did all of us girls wear a poodle skirt at some point? I’m thinking so!
Oh wow, this has to be one of my favorite Friday posts… ever. I know I’m not alone in saying this, but I think the mullet one might be my favorite. That being said, all the Lifetouch school pictures are great too because they’re so school picture-y. It’s perfect and I love it. Thank you so much for sharing!
Love that mullet! You’re a brave lady to post all those pics – I love them!
What a great post! My favorite picture and comment was the one with the bang/hair length fiasco happened – we have def. all been there!
I love pictures from the past – every blogger should do it! :)
You made a hot prom date.
LOVE the mullet. Billy Ray Cyrus rocked one for years and look where he is!
OMG! Awesome post! I almost choked on my gum when I saw the mullet pic — you’ve definitely made up for that one over the years though!
This was really great. (And, no: not just pretending to enjoy it.)
YOU HAD A MULLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, I don’t mean to laugh. But I do. Lol
Oh, those days can disappear!
Aw, these are great pics! I love seeing people grow up through pictures. Definitely love that poodle skirt. :)
Haha this was so fun! Love the poodle skirt!
Aw you were such a cute kid! I especially love the mullet! My hair was just as bad though. I had such huge bangs it looked like I was wearing a helmet.
Awe these were fun! And I had that Old Navy with the blue truck tee shirt too.. haha. ;)
Old pictures are so much fun, especially when you see things like babysitters club books in the background and fanny packs. Haha. I used to rock one back in th eday on occassion.
Totally had a poodle skirt. Mine was blue.
Haha, I enjoyed this post. I can’t believe the clothes we used to wear back in the old days… but I wonder if we’ll be saying the same thing in 20 years about today’s clothes. :P
Nineties goodness to the max!
i can definitely see the progression in years. in a good way. the poodle skirt is awesome. and the mullet! haha
that was fun. :)
I loved that as children growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, we were subjected to the same things. Like fanny packs. And while I never had a mullet, I DID have a bowl cut for the first few years of my life. My sister and I are both still scarred from the experience.
Babysitters Club books and fanny packs hahah YES!
Also, I love your current frames :)
You’re really pretty. Just saying. =)
looove this post!
ahahahahaha Mullet <3
fanny pack <3 (although we call them something different because in british english fanny is a BAD word :p )
we would have been childhood friends
You are adorable even when you were adorably awkward. And that t-shirt you’re wearing in the 6th grade picture? With the truck on it? I believe it was from Old Navy or the Gap and I totally had it, too.
I wore a poodle skirt for a 5th grade chorus thingy too :P I think it was called “Singing and dancing through the decades”
