This Friday tops most others.
- I graduate tomorrow. Have I mentioned that the ceremony is at 8:30 in the morning? Have I also mentioned that the hooding ceremony is at 7:30 in the morning? I guess this is all to avoid the crazy heat. I swear I almost fainted in the audience last year and this year it will all be worse, because I’ll be wearing a black gown and thinking nervously about trying not to trip across the stage. I hope this early morning graduation will jump start my transition back to a normal working day sleep schedule.
- As I write this, my family is not here, but as you read it, they are. It makes me sad already to think that they’ll only be here for a few days. I don’t really get homesick, but sometimes it makes me so sad that I only see my family a couple times a year. I hope that I eventually find my way back up to the Northwest.
- As if graduating and having my family in town was not enough, this is also the first day of my week and a half vacation. Unfortunately, I’m not getting paid for this vacation, but it will be so nice to just have some time off. Will I get anything done? Probably not.
- In effect, Summer begins for me today. Even though I wrote a post about summer a few weeks ago, I couldn’t really get my head around it. It’s here now and my life won’t change that much, but I’m excited anyway. My favorite season is Fall, but there is something magical about the Summer. When I think about last summer, I think iPhone, unemployed, Coldplay, and blogging. Thrilling, I know. Some of you were even lucky enough to read those posts.
- I know that David Gray has been working on an album. I wonder if it will be released this summer. I just feel like it’s only fair that every summer come with either a Coldplay release or a David Gray release.
- If it’s not there already, then a BlogHer ad will soon be appearing in the sidebar. Shouldn’t bother anything. For the record, I will only sell out for nail polish.
Have a super fantastic weekend everyone. Please think good thoughts about me not tripping down the stairs in my cap and gown.

Congrats! Good luck! Have fun! And don’t worry about tripping, you’ll walk smoothly and gracefully across the stage! I totally know what you mean about the heat though, I thought I was going to melt when I graduated. At least yours is in the AM.
I think you should skip across the stage with happiness!! No? Well, I don’t really blame you, 7:30 and 8:30 are entirely way too early to skip. Good luck and enjoy the time with your family!
7:30 is ludicrous! But I bet you’ll be excited enough to not let that phase you :) good luck not tripping, and yay for summer!
Wow, that’s really early! I struggle to rise at 8am, so I can’t begin to imagine before that.
I have a theory on the people who trip on stage. Mind you I could be wrong, but I believe that those who act like they aren’t nervous in the slightest are the ones who trip. I mean they just aren’t expecting it are they? You on the other hand will be conscious of your walking and perfectly fine when the time comes. Respect the fear and you’ll be fine.
Happy graduation!
I hope you enjoy your time with your family. Mine comes in on Monday and I’m so excited! And what is it about early graduations? I have to be there at 8:30 on Wednesday morning and I’m not looking forward to it! Don’t they know we are (uhh, were…) students and like to sleep in, haha.
So. I know you’re graduating. But don’t you want to get your PhD? Still going to do that? I don’t know if I read your post about that….
Good lord, that is early! But then, once it’s all over, you can go back to your place and take a blissful post-graduation nap. It’ll definitely wear you out, but in a good way.
Have a lovely graduation!
Congrats!! Our grad graduation is in the evening, so be thankful it is over early and you have the rest of the day to celebrate.
I completely understand about the whole missing the family. I haven’t been home in 2 years. (well, it will be more like 2 and a half by the time I get to go). But i have to say that I appreciate it more when I do get to go, or when they come to see me. I don’t take that time for granted at all.
I would totally sell out for nail polish too!
Good luck at graduation! Hopefully you won’t melt into a puddle…
Good luck!!! Have fun! Congratulations!
And on a side note: I sure hope David Grey comes out with a new album. I miss them!
Congrats on graduating!
Good luck tomorrow, Ashley! Congratulations, you should be very proud of yourself!! I hope you have a wonderful time with your family :-)
You’re fantastic. Congratulations my dear!
There IS something magical about summer!!!
I imagine it is over by now, so congrats! I hope you’re enjoying your family time!
I imagine you’re already a graduate by now so CONGRATS! I’m still striving towards that ol’ Bachelor degree that will take me 6,000 more years to complete. :) Anyway, found you from 20SB and wanted to say hey! So, hey!
Heard you survived grad ;)
Have fun with your family and enjoy your break! You deserve it!
I hope your graduation went well!
congrats on graduating!! hope you’re having a fantastic time with the fam!
my graduation was super hot since it was from 10:30 to noon, outside, in Malibu! beautiful but sweltering. my hair under my cap puffed up all crazy and my face was “glistening”– that’s a nice way of putting it– so the photo they took right after I got my diploma looked ridiculous. and when I went to last year’s graduation to see some friends, I too almost passed out in the crowd! I was putting on sunblock every 5 minutes! so, hopefully yours was (since I am writing this sunday!) less hot since it was early! (and hopefully you didn’t trip! I’m sure you didn’t :) I was afraid of doing that too, though)
congrats again on graduation! and enjoy your get-nothing-done vacation. those are the best kinds!
Congratulations!
By now it’s all behind you. It’s great that your family could share the occasion with you, too. Hope everything went well, and you had a few nice surprises to boot!
