I always feel like I should say something before I start the bullets, but this time I don’t know what to say.
- I don’t have to work again until next Thursday! Paid vacation is some kind of awesome. I don’t leave for Vegas until Sunday, so I’m trying to get things done before then, so I can forget about everything for a few days and just drink giant drinks and sit by the pool.
- I met with my advisor this week, and we scheduled the oral defense of my thesis. It’s happening April 14th. I have to complete another draft before then, and then I’ll have to make revisions after the defense. My advisor doesn’t think I’ll have to make major revisions, but he has the attitude that so many of my professors have that you should keep working on something until the deadline, because it can always be better. I see the logic in this, but my mind doesn’t quite work that way. I like to get things done and cross them off of lists.
- Someone brought a giant tub of hot chocolate mix into work, so I’ve been drinking at least one huge mug of hot chocolate every day. I don’t think I can make it through an afternoon without it. I need my fix.
- I’ve been thinking something for a long time, so I’m just going to go ahead and say it: Rod Blagojevich looks a lot like my dad. Except, my dad is better looking, has much better hair, and isn’t a delusional criminal. Still, they look a lot alike, and it kind of creeps me out.
- Political news has really been keeping me entertained lately, but I’m still annoyed by all the attention paid to the crazy Republicans like Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh, especially by the liberal media. I hope the party can find its feet again with some sensible people. I agree with something that Cenk Yugar from The Young Turks said, (paraphrased) there are many things the Republicans could criticize Obama and the Democrats for, but instead they just make up stuff to be outraged by.
- I have been eating so terribly this week. I get stressed and don’t eat, and then when I do eat, I just eat the worst crap possible. Hmm, I think I had a New Year’s resolution about this. What I really need is a roommate who cooks.
- How weird is it when people talk on their phone in public restrooms while going to the bathroom?
- I wanted to write another post about Twilight this week, but I didn’t really have anything new to say. Except, I swear that the movie gets better every time you watch it, and suddenly I’m actually looking forward to New Moon. I said to Lisa that I thought I could like anything if I just watched/read/listened to it enough times, because I like the familiar. Then she was like, “so you think you could like Breaking Dawn if you read it four times?” And, now I have to stipulate that I have to enjoy the thing at least enough to get through it a few times first. I don’t think I could ever make it through Breaking Dawn again. Once was enough.
Okay, have a great weekend everyone! I’m not sure if I’ll be posting much next week or not. I guess it depends on whether I get some posts written before I go.

Oh man, if I had a trip to vegas looming a couple days away I’d be so antsy and wouldn’t get any work done! Good luck with the draft(s).
have a fun and safe vacay! :)
Good for you! After all the work you’ve done lately you deserve a break.
I’m with you on the thesis. I prefer to work hard on something and then be done with it. Sometime I think I end up doing more harm than good when I constantly analyze, rewrite, and revise. I think the phrase “leave well enough alone” applies here!
Oh, and I love hot chocolate too! Have a good weekend.
Enjoy your time off, and Vegas!! Am sure it will be awesome!
Wow- your vacation in Vegas sounds great! Enjoy the pool and cool drinks and the sun (I’m assuming it’s sunny there now).
I watch the right, or the more vocal and prevalent side of the Right, with mixed feelings of perverse enjoyment and sadness. It’s funny how ridiculous they all sound, but it’s also sad that people could think that way. It’s like a car crash; you don’t want to look but you can’t turn away?
I’m definitely the same way about eating bad too, especially when it’s school work that keeps me down. By the time my days end on Tuesday and Thursdays (at like 9), I have no desire to cook and all I want is fast food. That is not a good thing, but you can beat it! And plus, hopefully you won’t be stressed soon so this won’t be a problem!
First off, I feel as though I have been commenting only on Twilight-related stuff lately (at least on your blog) — don’t get the wrong impression, I’m not Twilight obsessed and I read every thing else you publish! :)
Second, although I wasn’t a big fan of Breaking Dawn, I do think I could read it again. Maybe even enjoy it. Because I wouldn’t have any expectations this time around, I’d know exactly what to expect.
Enjoy your break!
Yeah Vegas!!
I agree with you. The more I watch Twilight, the better it gets. You have to watch it with the commentary – priceless. But I will not be reading Breaking Dawn again anytime soon. I tried a few weeks ago, but I could only get about 2 chapters in before I had to put it down. And it will stay on my shelf for a long time.
Um it’s very weird to talk on the phone while going to the washroom, in public or not.
Have fun is Vegas!!
I lost it when you said Blago looks like your dad. As an Illinoisan, I have to say that it’s probably not the best association that you want. However, does your dad have LEGO hair like Blago?
Have a great time in Vegas!
And have you ever suspected that your dad might be living a double life? :p
Wow, your dad DOES look like Blagojevich! I never realized that before.
Yay for vacations! Although I think yours is a little more exciting than mine, especially since your trip involves pools and sunshine and huge drinks, and mine involves rain and a complete absence of alcohol.
When you talk about getting your hot chocolate fix it makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine gets mad about all the afternoon cake parties at her work but once she boycots then she realizes she needs a sugar fix. Haha.
And yes I think talking in your cell phone while on any toilet is weird :) what’s even weirder to me are people who talk to themselves while in the restroom. People are funny.
Have a good weekend Ashley!
Have a wonderful vacation!!
Hahaha, it IS weird when people talk on their phones when they’re going to the bathroom, however, I have to admit that I do it sometimes! I hate to ignore a phone call, especially if it’s an important one, just because I’m doing my business so I will usually answer if it rings (and this has happened more than once) and try to talk in really hushed tones! Haha.
If I was going to Vegas I would get nothing accomplished. I am going to QVC and am getting nothing accomplished. So basically, I ‘m a lost cause. I also may or may not be one of those people who talks on their phone in a public restroom.
Have a wonderful time in Vegas!
Considering I just bought Twitter – and I’m reading “The Last Lecture” before I delve into it anyway – you should definitely warn readers before revealing anything about it, ha. Just in case. ‘Cause I roll this direction pretty often.
Okay thanks.
So glad for Friday!
I get really uncomfortable when I KNOW someone is talking to me while they’re in the bathroom.
Right there with ya re: Breaking Dawn….I read it in about a day and a half…primarily because I couldn’t stand the thought of having to read it any longer.
BUT I could watch Twilight repeatedly for days. I think I truly could.
