It’s Friday, and I’m Back to Blogging as Usual

by Ashley on March 27, 2009

Hey bullets, I’ve missed you.

  • Let me start off with a confession. I didn’t buy Twilight the day it came out, because I was scrambling to finish my thesis, and I didn’t want that distraction. But, shortly after I turned my thesis in on Monday, I did buy Twilight. I even unwrapped it and set it next to my DVD player. And, there it sits. I haven’t watched it yet! Some fan I am. Of course I mean that I haven’t watched it since I saw it in the theater last November. I have to admit that part of the reason I put it off was that I wasn’t ready to face the awkwardness by myself without some alcohol. But, tonight is the night.
  • For some reason, I’ve fallen in love again with the whole idea of blogging. I don’t know what it is, but I just have so many things I want to write about. I had this thought when I was grocery shopping this week (I always remember where I was when I had a sudden realization) that it’s super awesome to belong to a whole community online. It’s pretty cool to have a place to share your thoughts where people will listen and take you seriously and not hold your honesty against you.
  • I’ve been listening to a ton of tech podcasts over the last few weeks. I just find it all so interesting. I’m not really a tech nerd. Not at least when I compare myself to real tech nerds. But, I still know tons of people for whom the word blog is foreign, so I guess I occupy the space in between the hardcore nerds and the everyday users.
  • A few people asked me what Ulta is. It’s this paradise that sells a huge range of beauty products, including drugstore brands and prestige brands. They also have a huge selection of nail polish and hair stuff. And those jerks sent me another coupon! I’m going to try an experiment where I go in there and only spend $10. I’ll report back.
  • Even after my attempts to catch up this week, I still feel behind on just about everything. I hate that feeling.
  • I’ve been so busy listening to podcasts that I’ve hardly listened to music at all in the last two weeks.  That’s very strange for me.  But, last night, I turned on some Travis and rocked out.  Taking a break from music only makes it better.  I love to rediscover artists.
  • It seems like a bunch of people have joined Tumblr this week.  Every time I’m about to give it up, I go there again, and decide that I just can’t.  If you’re on Tumblr, follow me.  I’ll try to update more often.

Have an awesome weekend!

I haven’t watched Twilight yet either (aside from once in theaters), though I bought it Saturday.

I absolutely love Twilight. I didn’t see it in theatres b/c I hadn’t read the book yet and I hate seeing a movie before reading the book, but I got the DVD on Tuesday and watched it twice Wednesday night. I even skipped class to watch it. I am in love with Edward. I can’t get him out of my mind.

I love ULTA! I try not to go in there too often b/c I can’t get out of there without overspending, but it is a wonderful place!

You had me at Ulta.

We don’t have them here in NJ, but my best friend lives in MD and introduced me to it last time I visited. I need to take a deep breath because oh. my. God! I cannot believe how amazing that store is.

Yay! I love Fridays.. and I too, still love blogging. Weird the way that works. I just kind of wish I had done it more anonymously, since people like my mother know my blog address. So when I want to complain about certain things, I feel censored. And that sucks.

Ulta IS a super place, We have ‘em out here too. I wanted to tell you too, that I got this huge sample box of Raw Minerals makeup…Haven’t used it yet. Looks promising.

So since you’ve been musically absent, I imagine no new Blue October for you?

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say, but that line made me LOL. =)

The second bullet point is the whole entire reason I have fallen in love with blogging. I have become acquainted with such wonderful people and have formed great friendships with other bloggers. We talk on the phone, exchange emails, we just haven’t met face to face yet. The whole online community was something I never even expected when I began this journey.

Ulta sounds glorious.

Have a fantastic weekend Ashley!

Yeah, I recently gave in to Tumblr, mostly because there are links and stuff that I’d like to share, and I’m giving Twitter a rest for the time being. Tumblr seemed like a good way to leave Twitter behind while still engaging on that level, to a certain extent. Plus, it feels like a much more artistic outlet, which is kind of exciting and inspiring.

Whenever I buy a DVD of a movie that I really liked that was just released on DVD, I always end up not watching it for a while. That’s what happened with The Dark Knight. I bought it and it just sat there, more or less. Eventually I opened it and watched it, but it’s ok if it takes a while for you to get to that point!

PS What did you think of Twilight as a film? I just saw it for the first time a couple nights ago — although my expectations weren’t very high, the movie really stuck with me and I felt it wasn’t a bad interpretation of the book, at all. Plus, I love Kristen Stewart as Bella. I just think it’s so appropriate. And Robert Pattinson was much better than what I was expecting.

A post-graduate — a, seemingly, highly-literate post-graduate — that is apologising for not buying Twilight on the day of its release?

I guess everyone has to have their own dirty little secrets…

Like my little infatuation for Beyonce.

But, really, Twilight?

HELLS. FREAKING. YES.

It really, really is, isn’t it? I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I’ve not actually seen the Twilight film AT ALL yet. Oops. Mind you, I’ve only read the first two books so i’m maybe not a massive fan anyway…

Haha, ulta is an interesting place. I got the one and only gift for my mom (that she didn’t yell at me for spending money on) there.

I haven’t watched twlight since it was in the theatre. I think I am slightly traumatized because the whole time I was watching the movie we were sitting next to people who hadn’t showered in a week. Everytime I think about it the smell comes back. Weird.

I used to have an Ulta in my town. You will not spend only $10 I am only just telling you that now.

And I ordered Twilight online and I haven’t watched it yet either. BUT I have a bottle of wine at the ready and Edward, here I come.

I should have followed that with a “haha” or a “j/k” to sound a little less, um, LAME :)

I watched Twilight twice in the theaters so I’m not quite ready to go back to it just yet. :l

Oh and I agree with you on the blogging thing. I’ve been away from my blog for a little over a year now and I missed it soooo much. :>

I have a Tumblr too. Just created it this past week and I love it.

I missed blogging while I was away, I have so much to say now! Haha

I go through phases with blogging. Sometimes I’m ALL ABOUT IT, and other times it feels like a chore. Lately though? ALL ABOUT IT.

Partially due to wonderful reads like yours!
