It’s Friday and The Deadline is Near

by Ashley on March 20, 2009

TGIF!

  • Thanks for having coffee with me on Monday.  I wanted to chat with you in the comments, but unfortunately, when I got to work, I had to actually work!  I know, outrageous!
  • Uh oh, I’m on a Jane Austen kick.  I’ve been watching all the movies several times over.  You know who never gets enough love?  Darcy’s cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam.  He’s pretty cute in the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.
  • I’m also on a crazy podcast kick.  I’ve hardly listened to any real music this week.  It’s all been podcasts.  I’m into tech ones now.  I also really like Adam Corolla’s new podcast.  His humor is a little too crude for me, but he’s actually very interesting and he has interesting conversations with his guests.
  • It’s nice to have my evenings free this week.  I’ve gone for several walks around campus in the dark.  I keep thinking, why don’t I do this more often, but I guess it’s always that way.
  • I recorded a vlog this week, but never got around to posting it on my blog.  If you’re interested, you can watch it here.  It’s about how I don’t want to be a boring speaker when I’m a professor.  I hope to record more vlogs.  If I don’t post about them here, they should appear in the sidebar.
  • I’m sorry I’ve been such a bad commenter lately.  Thanks for putting up with me.
  • Ulta has become my new Target.  That is, they’ve designed their stores to make me lose my mind and spend all my money.  You see, they send out these coupons all the time for $3.50 off your purchase of $10 or more.  So, I could reasonably get out of there spending only $7.50, which will actually buy you something.  But, huh, I never seem to get out of there without spending at least $30.  It’s all the pretty colors that hypnotize me.
  • I’ve been meaning to ask, are there any nerdfighters among us besides phampants and I?  If not, then I assume you all simply haven’t yet discovered the made-of-awesome vlog brothers, though they’ve been around for quite a while.
  • I’m amazed that people continue to put so much energy into protesting every change facebook makes!  This time around, I didn’t even care enough to be annoyed by all the people complaining.  I don’t object to people protesting (it was totally valid with the terms of service change), but I think it’s weird that people react that way so immediately to any change.
  • Thanks to everyone who’s been participating at Twenty Something Writers!  Remember that we’re always looking for contributions from you.  We’re especially in need of blog posts, though we welcome your suggestions for discussion questions and writing prompts as well.  You can always email me with questions.  For those of you who have been meaning to check it out, but haven’t yet, I encourage you to head over there!
  • The deadline I’m referring to is of course that of my thesis! Thanks for all your well wishes as I work on it.  Soon I will be able to speak of something else!

I’m wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Can’t wait for you to be back in full-swing!

I’m about to check out the vlog brothers. I actually like the way facebook looks now, though it’s quite similar to Twitter. Loving Twenty Something Writers (especially the prompts!) … I want to vlog, but I have no webcam or anything to record with, aside from my phone which = 30 seconds of crappy video quality.

BTW, have you ever met John or Hank Green? Heck, have you met any other famous nerdfighters?

I really need to see the BBC version of P&P so I can see what everyone’s talking about. A ton of my female English major friends absolutely love it.

I always enjoy getting onto podcats, though I invariably start downloading too many and I can’t listen to them all. Though Adam Carolla is very ribald in certain respects, he’s also mighty hilarious haha.

Good luck working and getting to that deadline! You can do it!

I just don’t understand how people think protesting the new Facebook layout will actually get it changed. It’s going to stay the same regardless. It’s a wasted effort, if you ask me.

Have a wonderful weekend Ashley. I have no idea what Ulta is but Target gets me, every single time. =) I love the prompts that have been on Twenty Something Writers lately. I need to be more diligent in getting over there. Thanks for doing such an amazing job organizing it!

Thesis deadlines are always so much… fun. Haha. But it really kicks your butt into gear to really get it done though. Good luck!

People are afraid of change.. given the chance they will complain about anything and everything haha.

Oh Megan, the Vlogbrothers are the epitome awesome. I have watched ALL 454 videos (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=vlogbrothers&view=videos). I wish they were around when I was in HS cuz I would be more proud to be a nerd.
