Let’s get right to the bullets.
- I’m alive, despite my complete lack of posting this week. When I’m super busy, but very motivated to blog, I make the time. When I’m not very motivated to blog, but have the time, I force myself to write anyway. When I’m super busy and not very motivated to blog, things go quiet here at Writing to Reach You.
- As I mentioned before, it’s super double extra crunch time on my thesis. But, it’s going well! I turned in a partial draft on Wednesday and my adviser was really happy with it and thinks I’m on to something. I’m really excited about it too. But, I still have a lot more to write.
- I have a three day weekend!!
- As we speak, the conference I’ve been working on since last May is finally happening. I don’t have much to do with the actual activities, but I’ll be going to the public lectures tonight and tomorrow. Now I’m working on the next conference coming up in May.
- I put in the order form to rent a cap and gown and hood. Graduation here I come.
- I’ve loved podcasts for a long time. Recently, I discovered Filmspotting, and I’ve been listening to old episodes all week. Makes me want to go see movies.
- I’ve been having a hard time falling asleep lately. My mind is racing. I’m not sure if it’s anxiety or if I’ve been drinking too much tea. Both, I think.
- I’ve been thinking a lot about California.
- I feel a little removed from the blogosphere right now. For a while, I knew that I needed some distance, because the internet was consuming me, but I just couldn’t pull myself away. Then I was so busy for a few days that I had no choice, and as soon as I took a little break, staying away became easier. Now I’m having some trouble getting back in the swing, and I’m thinking it might not be a bad idea for me to continue to take it internet easy while I finish my thesis. I don’t know. But, I miss you all.

It’s good to take a break sometimes. I’ve missed reading your posts, though!
But I’ll miss you! Don’t go!
I’m excited for your thesis too! I totally know how hard it is to balance blogging when you have something looming that you should be working on 24/7. But I know that you will always come back :)
I was just thinking yesterday, “We haven’t heard from Ashley in a while!” I know you’ve been busy on Thesis work. Glad to hear it’s going well.
I haven’t had much time to check out the Twenty Something Writers site and I’m about to head on vacation for spring break, but I’ve added it to my reader and I’m looking forward to it when I return!
I missed your posting but your thesis should obviously come first :) Are you planning to share it with us?!
I’ve been slowly pulling back from the internet too. I’ve pared down my Google Reader to only the blogs that I truly enjoy reading, limit my non-work/school related internet time to about an hour per day, and don’t let myself get sucked into all of the drama. It’s a delicate balancing act, but I think it’s worth sorting out before it becomes too big a part of my life.
I have a friend who is OBSESSED with Filmspotting. I’ll have to check it out.
Have a good weekend :)
Best wishes on your thesis
Well done on all the productivity with your thesis and good luck for the rest!
I don’t know what it is but it seems to me that bloggers have been a bit quiet in general recently. I thought it was just me to start with, but everyone seems to be going through a quiet patch. Hopefully it will pass!
You’re a thesis rockstar! I miss reading your blog when you’re busy with “real world” things, but it’s great that you’re plowing through all your work.
A break is sometimes in order when you’re in the midst of thesis work, but we missed you!
I’ll have to check out that podcast, if you’re such a fan! And doing stuff like getting the cap and gown really makes it all hit home- that you’re graduating. It’s weird, but it’s those little things that really make something seem real.
I miss your posts but completely understand (and respect) the need to step back sometimes. Best of luck on your thesis. Its so exciting that you have ordered your cap and gown. Are you thinking of staying in Cali permanently? I have a desperate need to join in on the 20 something writers site. I’ve only made it over there a few times and not for very long. I plan on spending some time there this weekend! =) Enjoy your three day weekend Ashley!
Good luck on your Thesis!! You’ll do awesome I’m sure.
I will miss reading your posts daily, but I completely understand.
It’s definitely good to take a break from the Internet and blogosphere once in a while, especially when real life becomes a bit consuming. Your thesis is by far more important than this .com world and will welcome you back with open arms, I’m sure, when you’re ready.
I think it might be easier if you focused first on your thesis and then on blogging. Though, we do miss you when you’re away!
I’m officially addicted to the internet. I wasn’t even goin to go on today… but then I did. *Sigh* Being me is so frustrating sometimes :)
Yay! I’m glad you’re back. I missed the blog, even though I still talked to you every day.
I have hardly been sleeping at all- a definite combination of the busy mind and the too much tea.
I TOTALLY know what you mean about feeling a bit removed from the blogosphere. I’ve been feeling a bit like that recently. Which is weird cos it was pretty much the same time last year that I felt the same way!
