It’s Friday, and I’m Pretending to Be Social Again

by Ashley on February 20, 2009

It’s Friday, and you know what that means. Bullets!

  • I’m going out again this weekend, which I’m pretty sure puts me at my social quota for the semester. A friend of Lisa’s organized a Girls’ Night Out, so we’re going to see He’s Just Not That Into You, and then we’re spending the night in a hotel. I’m going to keep my distance from the wine this time.
  • It’s been raining a lot here. This is probably the longest stretch of bad weather I’ve seen since I moved to California more than two years ago. I think I’m losing my edge, because this Western Washingtonian used to love rain. But while I still claim to love it, I now find it kind of depressing and I won’t be sad to see the California sun again.  Edit: Okay, I wrote that on Tuesday night, and it’s been sunny and nice since then. Complaining works!
  • Remember how I was taking a picture of myself every day? Yeah, well, I’m still doing that. Check out the sidebar once in a while if you get the chance.
  • I had a blast participating in the 20sb Vlog Day. Twenty Something Bloggers is such an awesome community and blogging for me wouldn’t be the same without it. I’d really love to attend the big meet up, but I’m afraid a trip to Chicago just isn’t in the cards this summer. That’s code for I can’t afford it.
  • Lisa and I have recently discovered that we have become big snobs when it comes to the people we went to high school with. We’re particularly judgmental of the fact that they only seem to date each other. That’s weird, right? I mean, we graduated in 2002 and it’s not like we’re from a small town! I’ve been meaning to write about my high school experience for a while now. I hope to get around to it soon.
  • I was just about to give up on my Tumble Blog, because I’ve been posting on it so infrequently, but then I visited Tumblr again, and I just couldn’t do it. I’ll try to post more frequently, and if you use Tumblr, follow me already!
  • The hotel is booked for Vegas in April!  And my vacation request was approved!
  • Speaking of travel, my parents (Dad, Mom, Step-dad) are booking their flights to come down here in May to see me graduate. I am really excited. When I graduated with my BA, I honestly didn’t think it was a big deal. It wasn’t until several months later that I realized it was a big deal and felt pride in my accomplishment. Knowing how hard I’ve worked the last three years, I’m really excited to get my MA, and I’m even more excited to have my family see me walk across that stage. The future is really uncertain right now, but that’s no reason not to celebrate what I’ve already accomplished. I tend to be so focused on the future that I forget to take in the milestones as I hit them.
  • I have this idea.  It’s something I want to do.  It might involve some of you if you’re interested.  The thing with me and ideas is that once I decide on something, I have a hard time focusing on anything else.  I’m very impatient that way. If I decide to go through with this idea, then I’ll probably make a post about it soon. I’m excited!
  • I’ve been trying really hard not to buy things I don’t need.  I’ve mostly been succeeding, but yesterday I had a minor breakdown.  I always seem to lose my mind at Ulta.  This is my way of telling you that I bought some purple and blue eye liner.  Just for funsies, of course!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ahh I have so much to say (per usual)

- Girls Night Out Sounds fun! I’m trying to do that this weekend tooo!
- I wish I could go to the 20something meet up too, but I can’t afford it either. Disappointing. Also, I attempted to vlog for vlog day but I failed.
- I am obsessed with tumblr!
- Ok, so, I’m really curious about your idea. I want to know!
- You and Ulta are like me and shoe stores. Bad news when it comes to trying to save money.

Have a good weekend!!

Happy Friday! Tumblr’s the best. And I’ve been trying to be better about not spending money, but it’s SO HARD, so I can’t blame you. :)

I hope you have fun on your Girl’s Night Out. I haven’t done that is a very long time. My social events are going to consist of many parades.

I started a Tumblr account and added you a little while ago. I like it.

Hmm….very curious about your idea. Okay, I am going to go crazy until you tell us!!

My addiction is books. I’m trying to save money so I am staying away from all book stores and book sites. So far, it has been about 2 weeks and counting. But I think I may have a lapse tomorrow – read everything. Oh well. There is always after the holiday…

It seems like the weekend for Girls Night! My friends and I are having one too featuring SATC. And I liked “He’s Just Not That Into You.” It’s a great chick flick kind of movie. Have fun!

I see that you took a pic without the glasses…I like it! So wait, your eyes are green? I thought they were brown before. I guess they are a golden green color? Hmmm…it is interesting trying to match eye shadow with your eyes.

Enjoy the movie! I saw it on impulse yesterday and loved it. I’ll jump on the wagon and be curious about your idea with everyone else!

I was MUCH more excited to graduate with my Masters degree than with my BA. I think it had something to do with the fact that, in my family, a BA was a given. My parents paid for it and helped me pick out the school I’d attend.

My Masters degree was MY gig. I chose the school, program, funded it, struggled through it… It meant much more to me than my undergrad degree because it was all me.
