My Weekend

This weekend was a bit different for me.  For 3 days, I ignored my responsibilities and hung out with my friend Elyse, who was visiting.  Here are some highlights:

  • I was introduced to the card game Phase 10.  I’ve mentioned before that I love games.  But, somehow this one had slipped past me.  I think I’m the only one, because when I mentioned it on twitter, several people told me how much they love it.  I love it now too!
  • My strange number dyslexia problem reared its head.  We were playing Phase 10, and I set down my cards, and Elyse was like, “what is that?”  In all seriousness, I said, “Seven, Nine, Ten!” like that was a legitimate run.  Yeah, it’s not a real problem for me, but it’s a good thing I didn’t become an accountant like an aptitude test told me to.  I’m pretty sure it told all of us introverts to be accountants.
  • By the way, I’m not an alien.  I just have really long, scary fingers (evidence above).
  • While a little tipsy, I told Elyse about the blog!  She proceeded to read through my 100 list, finding them all to be true.  It’s weird to read through a list like that with someone who knows you in real life.  I’m pretty sure the game loving, number dyslexia, and scary fingers are all there.
  • Elyse had only been in my apartment for a few minutes when she noticed my Arrested Development box sets.  That was fateful.  We spent the rest of the weekend watching episode after episode, all of which we’d both already seen several times.  That show is freaking genius.  We were repeating quotes all weekend.  “Way to plant, Ann.”
  • I tried Chick-fil-A for the first time.  It was good, but super greasy.  I had the chicken strips.  I think I’ll try something else next time.  This seems like a weird thing to have updated you all on three times now.  Thus concludes the Chick-fil-A series.
  • Thank you all for your drink suggestions.  We did most of our drinking at home, so I had screwdrivers and greyhounds.  But, I’m going to keep your suggestions in mind, so I don’t embarrass myself in the future.  If nothing else, a 25 year old should know how to drink.   And that I did!  Here’s some evidence:

One more thing: I didn’t win a 20sb award. But, I just wanted to say that it was more than an honor to be nominated.  It was a freaking miracle.  Thank you to anyone who voted for me, but what I appreciate the most is that you read what I have to say and you take the time to tell me what you think about what I have to say.  Most of you are bloggers, so I don’t have to tell you how awesome that feels.

I was sad to see that you did not win. I was rooting (and voting) for you. But at least you got drunk and played awesome card games! Sounds like a perfect weekend to me.

Hmmm… I have freakishly small hands. A friend once told me I should be featured in a carnival.

Also, Arrested Development is freaking AWESOME! I can’t wait for the movie!!!

I’m glad we could share our fondness of greyhounds together this past weekend. I too, have scary alien fingers so there is another thing we have in common!

Sorry, you didn’t win, but it is pretty cool to get a nomination.

Yes! An accountant or a civil engineer.

We both would have been terrible accountants, and probably would have committed terrible errors and ended up in jail. I think being a professor and a lawyer are much better jobs for introverts, because, you know, you never have to talk to people. Or maybe not. Whatever.

Arrested Development is awesome.

Oh no! You made me realize my ex has it. And Good Luck Chuck. And just about every other DVD we bought… Dangit! I want to watch Arrested Development now :(

First, some Arrested Development quoting courtesy of G.O.B.: Plus, she’s religious. That one gets pregnant, it stays pregnant.

Ignoring responsibilities and having fun is an important thing to do sometimes! I’d go for the chicken sandwich next time you’re at Chick-Fil-A. Did you have the fries? And just keep ordering and trying different drinks and then you’ll find what you like and want to order again and again.

And I’d give your blog an award any day of the week! It’s definitely at the top of my list… err blogroll.

Hmmm, it’s a good thing I don’t have number dyslexia… I think that would be a big problem as a pharmacist. And I have to keep you straight Ash!

I love Phase 10. It is one of the few card games that I actually like. Also, my friends in real life were the first people to read my blog. I think it’s easier that way.

Also, your weekend sounds like it was a blasty.

Don’t be lost. I’ve never heard of Phase 10….

I love Phase 10. and drinking. They go well together, the more people drink the less they notice things like strange number dyslexia and its much easier to win! :-)

Introverts to be accountants … I think I remember that aptitude test. Looks like you had a fun weekend thought that last picture was a bit of a surprise.

Haha, Phase 10 is awesome. I love that game, but for some reason we ONLY play it in the summer, when we are down the shore. It’s like a vacation, summer game.

Phase 10 is one of my favorites! It’s addicting. I’m so glad your friend was open about your blog, I’m sure you were somewhat apprehensive to tell her about it.

I totally LOVE the pic of you lying on the floor, it’s brilliant!

CUTE pic! I didn’t notice the fingers until you pointed them out — better than short stubby ones, I say! Also, I’m so jealous that you are wearing tee-shirts.

I basically don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like Arrested Development.
