I have at least a kajillion things to tell you. So, I’m sorry this is long, but the bullets and subtitles should make it easy to skip through if you don’t want to hang on my every word.
- Work: I had the freaking craziest day at work. I was running around the entire time. Don’t these people know that I depend on that time to keep up with the blogosphere? But, as I was walking to my car, I just felt extremely grateful for my job. I’d be grateful for just about any job considering the state of the economy, but to have an awesome job just makes me feel so lucky. My job is not stressful. My boss is on my side. I have benefits. There is no threat (at least right now) that I will be laid off or have my hours cut. I have free time every day to work on homework and read blogs. And, most importantly, I don’t mind being there.
- Working Days: Speaking of work, as some of you know, I usually work swing shift (that is for me, 3 pm – midnight). But, the library isn’t open that late right now, so I’ve been working days. You’d think I’d love to have my evenings free, but, honestly, I miss working nights. It’s so hard to get things done when you work 8 am – 5 pm, especially because I have other jobs to keep up with. I’m looking forward to next week, when I’m back to my normal shift.
- Chick-fil-A: On my last post, many of you (quite logically) asked me if I’d yet tried Chick-fil-A. The answer is no. Actually, it didn’t even occur to me. I guess because I don’t eat out much anymore and I’m a super picky eater who shies away from trying new things. But, I’m going to go! I’ll report back.
- Twitter: I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by twitter lately. I used to read every tweet of every person I followed, and now I can’t even keep up. I’m following more people and they’re all very active! So far I’ve dealt with this problem by mostly avoding twitter. I think I just need to get used to a faster pace. I sound like this is a huge problem in my life! Ahhhh, twitter.
- West Coast: Jessica asked me about living on the west coast–about whether it feels like we find things out late, especially regarding TV. Before I started living half my life on the internet, I never felt this way. I had no awareness of being in a different time zone than other people. But, especially since I started blogging, I am super aware of being 3 hours behind the east coast. Really, though, it doesn’t bother me. I dont’ feel behind. It does take some effort to avoid spoilers, but sometimes I like learning things early, so I don’t have to bother watching. Actually, sometimes I feel lucky when I hear east coasters talking about going to bed, and I still have hours of the evening to enjoy!
- Blog secret: On the post about my secret life, Josh said that even though most people in his real life don’t know he blogs, he feels like his blog readers have built up an image of him, so he doesn’t feel comfortable saying just anything. I feel the same way. It was silly to ever think that I could find a situation where I wouldn’t care at all about what people think of me. And, I don’t know that I really need that anyway. There are things I share with people in my life, things I blog about, things I journal about, and things that never leave my head. I’m okay with that.
- 30 Rock: Several people said on my Friday post that they’ve been meaning to watching 30 Rock. Dooooo it. It’s the best show on television, I swear. I’m not one of those people who thinks that everyone else will be a fan of the things I’m a fan of, but I recommend 30 Rock wholeheartedly!
- Delurking Day: I didn’t know ahead of time that Monday was Delurking Day, which I’m pretty sure puts me in the majority. After I found out, I debtated whether I should make a post about it, but the whole idea makes me kind of uncomfortable. I don’t want to feel like I’m calling anyone out, because lurking is totally legit. But, if anyone does lurk this blog, know that I would love to hear from you and never worry about not having anything to say. I mean, that never stops me from writing! Comment especially if you blog, so that I can start reading your blog.
- Obama and his internet “friends”: I saw this article on CCN.com about what Obama was going to do with his internet “friends,” and I was annoyed that friends was in stupid quotes. I mean, I wouldn’t say my internet friends are as close to me as my best friends, but they know me better than a lot of people in real life that I call friends. I hope you know you’re my blog friends and not my blog “friends.”
- Tags and Awards: Liza gave me a super adorable Lemonade Award. Thank you, Liza. I’m not going to tag anyone this time around, but I will in the future. I always feel so much pressure when it comes to giving awards away. I’m ridiculous. I’ve been slow on tags and things like this lately. I’m sorry. They totally warm my heart and put an extra pop in my step. I’ll be better in the future.
- Thesis: t.k. foster asked me what my thesis was about. It’s about God and power. It could go in a few directions. The easier way would be a feminist critique of the concept of sharing power (God and creatures sharing power). The more difficult and technical way would be to deconstruct the concept of power and deconstruct creatures as agents of power. If it’s interesting and not too boringly technical, I’ll share more later.
- More Awkward Conversation in the Library: I have awkward conversation with several library patrons, but there’s one in particular who I’m pretty sure just asks me questions to ask me questions. He does look nice in a suit, though. There’s another who will ask me a question and then talk over me while I’m trying to answer. I do not understand that.
- What the hell, Adorable Boy?: Seriously, I haven’t seen the guy in months! He’s the worst crush ever! I know that next time I see him, the pressure will get to me, and I’ll make a fool of myself or say no words at all. It occurs to me now that Adorable Boy is about the most obnoxious nickname ever, but we’ve been calling him that for almost two years, so it just sounds natural to me. Plus, he is adorable.
- MIA: Thursday through Sunday, I’ll be spending 24 hours a day with a friend who doesn’t know I blog. Yeah, so I probably won’t be commenting much. I’m sorry. I’ll catch up that Sunday.
- Mini Vacation: Yeah, so one of my best friends is coming to visit, and it’s going to be awesome just to relax and have fun for a while. I don’t really play hostess to people ever, so I find myself at a loss. I’m trying now to think of things to do.
- Kitchen Sink

Whoa that was a lot of things to blog about. I usually resort to bullets when my head gets full like that too. I love that you work in a library. I eventually want to go back to school to get my MLS.
Your thesis sounds very interesting and promising, if I do say so myself! I’d probably prefer to work late nights like you do (at least at the library) because I’m a night owl. Are you the same way too?
I know I’ve talked to you a bit about this, but the whole time zone thing (especially when it comes to TV or, for me, sporting events) takes some getting used to. If you want to watch something live on the West Coast and you’re in the East, you’re staying up till 10! But knowing that other people are going to sleep while you’re still awake is pretty cool, at least I think so.
Have a great time with your friend who does not know about your blogging!
I am also a really picky eater. And I’ve only heard of Chick-fil-A from a Ben Folds song, we certainly don’t have those in Canada.
How I love that you had me get Chick Fil A today, it was fantastic,
I’m glad you have a secure job, and you like it. I hit a double wammy with mine. Not only was it not secure being in the auto business, but I used to dread going into work every single day.
I actually happened to catch 30 Rock last Thursday. Tracy Morgan cracks me up every time I watch, and I usually get several laughs several other places throughout the show. I don’t know why I don’t watch it all the time.
And Chick-Fil-A is good. There’s none near where I live, so maybe the fact that I can’t have it on a whim makes it more desirable to me. However, I’ve truly enjoyed it before when I’ve eaten it in some neighboring states.
I was waiting for that damn sink, thanks!
Hey, I still don’t know what delurking day is. I have seen this on a couple of blogs and I didn’t know there was a fancy day. I’m so out of the loop.
Okay, so I have a lot to say about this post.
Perhaps, I should follow your bullets.
Work: Where do you work, or rather, what do you do? I’ve sort of gathered that you work at a library. Sounds nice to be surrounded by books :)
Twitter: It overwhelms me too. I’ve learned to just sort of tune out the things I don’t really want to read, or am interested in.
West Coast: Thanks for answering my question! Haha, I always get so confused when I see people’s Twitter statuses about having lunch and it’s dinner time here. Much like how you get to stay up and play online, while us EC’s sleep.
Delurking: I felt awkward posting about it too. Also, I don’t see how it really works? If you don’t want to de-lurk, why would you do so just because the day was designated de-lurking? lol.
Okay, I think that’s it! Whew!
Hi! I found your blog the other day and bookmarked it, and when I came back today decided to not lurk and comment! Woo. Anyway. I also live on the west coast… and sometimes it does suck living three hours behind… especially when you go online and accidentally see on who got eliminated on American Idol… or like the other day, when I went online to see who was up for what award for the Oscars and learned who had won already! But like you said sometimes it is nice learning things early if you don’t care about watching it on TV or whatever.
*** I meant the Golden Globes, not the Oscars. Haha.
Wow, it’s almost impossible for you to share that thesis without me asking further questions. When you write it and you get your degree, please share it. I’d love to see your views on power and God since I know you are religious as I tend to see power as the most corrupt thing on Earth.
As far as Obama’s internet friends, yes what is that about? In some ways blogging is a good form of interaction – and possibly more honest. Not anything against friendship, but people can have friends in life and online because it doesn’t lessen the friendship in either interaction.
You are such a diligent blogger! Even apologizing for a prolonged absence. You are too good at this. I could never work the 3-12 shift. I am so not a night owl. I pass out at around 10 no matter what I do…..11 on a good night.
Wow! You’ve got a lot on your plate right now! Your thesis sounds like it is going to be fascinating — no matter the direction it takes — and I feel the same way about Twitter. It’s overwhelming!
come on adorable boy, get back to the library! have fun with your friend and enjoy that socal weather!!
When it comes to Twitter, I usually wake up to two whole pages of new tweets, that I go back and scan, but other than that, I can usually keep up in the day time. I don’t know how other people can cope with following more people than I do! I’m one of those people that has to read absolutely everything… :p
I don’t think that we have Chick-fil-A at all in England, which is a shame, because I’m curious now!
I used to think about the “image” I had created early on as a blogger. But it began sucking the fun out of it.
Now my blog is much more chaotic and silly.
Chick-Fill-A is awesome, i think you should try it.
TK Foster would ask you a question like that, and i have an inkling that he’s intrigued by your thesis
Um. Try Chik-fil-a. Gosh, just seeing the word makes me want to go there. The closest one around me is about an hour away, sadly. It’s great, though. I think it’s a lot better than most fast food places, and the waffle fries are awesome. They have great sweet tea, too.
I hate when people talk over me when I’m trying to answer a question they asked.
