I always find it easier to write than talk. Which is probably why I do so well on my blog and my livejournal in terms of updates (whether they’re private or public). I could never say what I’ve written to someone so easily. It would take time and a lot of practice probably.
I too am one of those people that you would have to try really hard to get to know… But I think that instead of giving off a shy & quiet vibe, I give off a more angry “leave me alone” demeanour because of my anxieties, without even intending to come across that way!
Being shy or a social phobic is really hard… And for me at least, it’s because I would like to talk to people and have more friends so much that creates the issues of me constantly worrying about being judged, being unable to communicate well and generally not acting like a “normal” person would.
I know that for me especially, I’ve got to worry less about what people think of me, but for anyone in this sort of situation, it’s definitely about being brave and putting oneself out there a little more. :)
It’s all about balance, and being comfortable. I always thought I was a pretty outgoing person until I realized “hey, I’m shy!” But, no one is a complete introvert or extrovert and thus we fall somewhere in the middle. It’s about finding that middle point where you feel comfortable. When you feel comfortable, you’ll act naturally and that’s the best way to share yourself with people, you know?
I think the blog/vlog is a great way to do that, and I think you do a great job of that. Plus, I’m impressed you do so much vlogging. The prospect of doing that would scare me so much, and I did theatre in high school and college!
I am shy also. I have tried to become more open to conversing and hanging out with other people more often, but it is so hard for me. I kind of like hanging out by myself. I usually don’t speak to other people I don’t know unless they speak to me first. A lot of time with collegues I think back to the conversations we had and wonder why I said a certain thing. I over-analyze everything. I have a lot to say about this topic so perhaps I will vlog about this at a later time :)
Very random, I was listening/viewing your v-blog, when I realized I was thinking about you in various movie scenarios and they all happened to be Sandra Bullock movies.
(By the way, the serious comment is I’m an introvert.)
But back to the main point, I never realized how much you look like her, until I saw this video.
I think it would be strange to meet you in person. You don’t seem shy from reading your blog or your vlogs. But, then, of course it is easier to be outgoing when all of the people you are communicating with you will probably never meet in real life. This is a bit of a ramble, but you don’t seem shy from reading your blog, you just seem awesome.

So you’re an introvert that’s a people person? Don’t you love it how feelings can be contradictory?

I have never attempted a vlog. I am much more comfortable with writing than I am with speaking.

I know this is already well established, but we are the same person.
