Ashley, you’re also a writer. So if you need to make up some drama, hey, nothing better than writing a dramatic story. But girls who avoid girls because they’re dramatic, need to spend time with men to learn the same thing. I think it’s part of life for the both of us, though I don’t know why we perceive it differently for the opposite sex.
Becks and Shells also sound like good names for a random novel that you could put together with your friend. I think Shells ought to be aware of Richard Cory though.
I personally have always gotten along with girls better, I’m too girly to really be friends with many guys. I’ve certainly had plenty girl friends that are dramatic without any assistance from me. I just have limited contact with them.
I love the whole Becks and Shels thing. Can we have an update on them every once and a while?
LOL about the making up drama. that’s great! :) And I totally agree with you about finding other girls.
Honestly… If a girl finds that ALL other girls that they become friends with are too much drama, then it’s worthwhile to note that the only constant factor is that person in the first place, which is probably causing the drama in the first place!
Making stuff up like this is really fun, and even more so when you get other people involved. :p
creative faux-drama? that’s pretty brilliant, actually.
It does seem like girls will often use that as an excuse to withdraw, perhaps as a reason to avoid intimacy and really sharing important things. But, that definitely not the majority and the people who don’t act like that are the ones worth being around.
I agree with everyone else- making up drama and dramatic situations are SO indicative of a writer! You’re turning real life and the real world into a canvas!
I love it! haha you two are so funny. And I agree, a girl without girlfriends is a red flag. I’m glad to say that I left drama back in college. And boy was there drama.
Hmm… I’ll do the reverse and talk about how I feel like I can talk to girls better than guys. At least, ones that I don’t know. Say, I have guy friends that I’ve had forever. But when it comes to new people, it’s mostly girls that I meet and talk to.
I think it’s because I’ll feel worse looking stupid in front of a girl than a guy. I’m a natural introvert, so this humiliation aspect pushes me to put more effort into being outgoing with a girl than I would with a guy. The whole looking for a relationship could factor into it as well.
I also think that people that get along with the opposite sex better, simply like the flirting aspect. Even if they claim it’s platonic. With my experience with other folks, and the way I’d feel, it’s generally not mutually platonic. It’s usually sum’n like this comic.
But that’s just me…
I’m going on a road trip soon, maybe we’ll turn that Becks and Shells drama thing into a game. Instead of the alphabet game, perhaps we’ll count how many times our Beck and Shelton sleep with that random trucker’s wife (or even that random trucker, period) on the trip.
I love you all so much for getting me on this, and not thinking I’m a totally nut case. Ah, blog love.
Hey Ash – it’s Elyse. Just thought you should know Chad called. He was pretty upset we told him that he was Lisa’s half-brother. Oops.
