I started this blog six months ago today. Which, I think, is reason enough to post today, even though I should be working on a million other things. Really, I was just searching for some kind of excuse, because I love blogging.
Here’s what I’ve been thinking lately:
1. I’m sleeping too much. I’ve never been one to scrimp on sleep. I find I can get everything done and still get 7-8 hours. But, working swing shift has really messed with my normal schedule, and because I don’t have to get up early in the morning, I don’t!
2. I want to go to Starbuck’s just for the holiday cups. They warm my heart. I grew up in Western Washington, which means I’ve been going to Starbuck’s forever, but since I’ve moved to California, I usually just make my coffee at home, and don’t bother paying $4 for a fancy drink. Still, I might have to make a special run just for that red cup. I don’t think I can wait until I’m home in Washington for Christmas.
3. If I close my blinds, I can convince myself that it’s something like Fall or maybe even Winter outside. When I push the blinds aside, though, it’s sunny.
4. I kind of already knew this, but it’s recently come to my full realization. I love those crazy celebrity baby names. My favorite is definitely Apple. My own nieces also have weird names, and you’d be amazed how quickly they start to seem normal. I just found out yesterday that I’m going to be an aunt again!!! So, Lisa and I have been guessing what kind of crazy name my step-brother and his wife will come up with next. My brother just wants this kid to like him best. It’s hard for him to accept that my nieces like me better, even though he buys them things and throws them into the air. I don’t know why they like me. I think they think I’m a teenager, and they don’t know many teenagers
5. I haven’t had much of an appetite lately, and I have no interest in preparing food for myself. It’s a weird problem I have, and it leaves me feeling like crap. Maybe I’ll write more about it later.
6. Here’s the truth: I just like boring, simple blog themes.
7. I have a lot of things to get done before the end of December, but since I’m only taking two classes this semester, I don’t have the normal finals crunch going on. It’s more these big projects that are haunting me.
8. It’s been so awesome having four days off. I haven’t made the best use of them, but I think I’ll return to work feeling well rested. Though, you should know that that day when I wanted to punch someone was just a short-passing phase. I’m not going to punch anyone, but I might scream, “No books for you!” if someone doesn’t have their card ready to go.
9. I really didn’t see this coming, but I’m loving the Twilight soundtrack. At first it sounded way too angsty for me, and just too young. I’m nearly 25, remember? But, after I saw the movie, I decided to give it another try, and I got hooked. I especially love Rob’s song. I can barely understand a word he’s saying, but the song still makes me want to lay down in a corner and curl up into the fetal position. I think at one point he’s saying, “Without me, you’ve got it all,” which sounds very much like Edward. I have to see that movie again.
10. I wrote a blog post about my novel that I’ll probably post this week, but last night I spent some time–okay, hours and hours–reading over my first draft. My reaction this time: Hey, it’s not that bad. It’s pleasant to be thinking this way, because the impression I’d been carrying around with me these last few months is that my draft is freaking terrible, and I should start all over again with a new story.
11. Ahh! I should be working on things. Check ya later!

Happy six months! It seems we all started our blog at the same time.
1) I love the name Apple. I thought I was the only one.
2) I never feel like eating. I only do it when I’m hungry and even then I usually choose something quick.
3) I’ve tried more exciting themes for my blog, but I always go back to the simple one. I think they are less distracting from what the writer is trying to say.
Happy 6 months!
I love the starbucks cups too! And their whole xmas ambiance. And nothing wrong with boring, simple blog themes…simplicity is beautiful. I’ll have to check out the twilight soundtrack, I didn’t really notice it while watching the movie. Can’t wait to hear about the novel! That’s what I was reading about 6 months ago when you started bloggin :) I totally missed my 6-month…oh well!
Happy bloggoversary! I just started reading, but I love it! You remind me a little of myself. :)
Happy 6 months! I think I started somewhere around then too. Maybe May? I like to imagine that it is winter and that snow just might come. That’s not going to happen in Austin, but at least today was blustery enough for Starbucks cocoa!
couple things. it kinda irritates me that it’s so sunny in california when i really want it to be fall. don’t know if i’m alone in this, but just wanted to add my 2 cents.
also, i grew up with a girl named apple. i still can’t get over it. :) i also know a girl named lovely, and my boyfriend knows someone named stopsign. i’m totally serious.
and as for the twilight soundtrack, i’m not sure how i feel about it. i will say that i love rp’s song “never think.” also, if you google it, you’ll find the lyrics, which i needed to do almost immediately (being much more lyrical than musical, not knowing lyrics to songs drives me nuts). and i know i’ve wrote it about a million times in my blog, but i love love LOVE “flightless bird, american mouth” by iron & wine. become obsessed with it so i’m not alone, please? :)
I’ve been meaning to tell you since forever ago (or maybe 3 weeks) that the front desk girl at my gym is named Apple.
I’m not really a fan of apple, the name that is. I do enjoy the fruit on occasions. it reminded me of my friends niece’s name; Aurora. Pretty nifty name, makes me a bit jealous. But then again if my name was Aurora I’d be very confused, since it’s a bit of a girly name. Oh, that also reminded me of one of my teachers names; Ariel. Ariel, the man. Pretty awesome… come to think of it… I could probably pull off Aurora if he can make Ariel manly.
i forgot a weird name! brace yourself, here goes: “talula does the hula from hawaii” some crazy person named their child “talula does the hula from hawaii”! it’s actually kind of a sad story. (see: http://abcnews.go.com/WaterCooler/wireStory?id=5439648)
Thanks everyone!
Happy 6 months!
I like Apple, too. And Sunday Rose.
lol at Stopsign. That crosses a line.
And, of course I love “Flightless Bird, American Mouth.” I’ll have to look up Rob’s lyrics, but I really don’t mind not understanding them.
