Thanks for September

by Ashley on October 3, 2008

I think I’ve detailed my life quite enough this week, so I won’t treat you to or torment you with a normal Friday rundown. I have something else in mind.

September was a great month in blogging. By that I mean that I had a blast. When I started this blog, I thought there was a pretty good chance that I’d post for a while, and then disappear forever once I’d lost interest. I fear I still might do that one day. But, it’s not a likely possibility right now, because Jiminy Cricket if I don’t ever love blogging.

Where else do I get to write about myself and the things that interest me ad nauseum, and have as many as four, five, sometimes even six people (I know, impressive) read it? And, it does make a difference that people are reading my writing. That’s why I want to say thanks. Thank you for giving me a chance. Thank you for valuing what I have to say. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for commenting. Thank you for coming back. Thank you most of all just for reading.

Thank you, too, for sharing your writing with me. I hear people complain that no one writes anymore. People don’t read books and newspapers or exchange letters. What crap. In the time that I’ve been reading blogs, I have been exposed to amazing amounts of written content. Blogging gives writers a new medium to play with, and coolest of all, it gets self-professed non-writers writing! And, in my book, the definition of a writer is someone who writes–something, anything.

Thanks is what I wanted to say, but it’s not all I wanted to say. You can trust that I’ll keep going–I’ll keep writing–but if you want any say in the direction this blog moves, the door is open. I’ll take questions. I’ll take suggestions. I’ll take criticism. And, I’ll take requests. What I mean by I’ll take them is that I really want them, but either way, I’ll keep producing content on a regular basis. So, let me hear you if you want to be heard. You can leave comments or email me at ashley[at]writingtoreachyou.com

I’m going to back away slowly now from this blog about blogging. Something about it always feels a little clunky. It’s like breaking the fourth wall. Pretend I didn’t just wink at you.

Yes and we’ll all “pretend” that we didn’t wink back. In tough times, like these, it is always best to have others to read and turn to for wisdom. As Hume said, “Truth arises from a discussion amongst friends.”

Truly blogging is a great way to utilize symbolic-interactionism: learning about other individuals and how they view the world through the symbols and connotations of those symbols they use.

Thank you for sharing your writing. I never knew how vast a collection of blogs there were out there. I used to TRY and find blogs, by clicking “Next Blog” on blogger…I never found anything of reading material but 2 blogs, which are awesome. Everything I found was always Indian, or Spanish, or just a bunch of pictures. I was so excited to find 20 Something Bloggers where I could read other people’s writing AND they want to read yours. It’s awesome. :)

Thanks for reading, comments, and sharing your talent for writing. You’re amazing! :D
